Ways you acquire news other than by watching tv.

Much has been made about this exchange between Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and CBS anchor Katie Couric.

Couric: And when it comes to establishing your worldview, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?

Palin: I’ve read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media.

Couric: What, specifically?

Palin: Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me all these years.

Couric: Can you name a few?

Palin: I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news, too. Alaska isn’t a foreign country, where it’s kind of suggested, “Wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C., may be thinking when you live up there in Alaska?” Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America.

While the the content of the answer can’t be disputed, how you interpret this answer often depends on your political leanings. Some say she was trapped by a gotcha question because she couldn’t say certain titles without being painted as an extremist. People on the other side of the argument say that her inability to name specific periodicals was far from a calculated decision, but because she simply didn’t know any. Obviously this is more of an entry for your amusement than it is for garnering the charm and wit of my loyal readers. What brought this about was the fact that this blog recently reached 10,000 views so I decided to show you why. Most of the traffic has been generated by my super awesome friends, and my now super awesome virtual friends, but people doing web searches also make up a considerable portion of the traffic. Websites you like to visit.

Since I spend as much time as I possibly can online I have several websites I view daily. Some of them aren’t exactly…work appropriate so I won’t include those (email me if you want links) but I still came up with a good list. What I attempted to do was include sites everyone may not know about. For example, I go to ESPN.com multiple times a day, but that’s probably the most visited sports site so I won’t include it.
